Water Softener is a filter that removes hard minerals such as calcium and magnesium, out of the water. This makes the water "soft".

Every model can work, but it may not be efficient. Suppose the hardness of your water source is 100ppm, the models will soften the following amount:
1. Type I : Up to 16,000 liters

2. Type II : Up to 12,000 liters

3. Type III : Up to 9,000 liters

If you're using a lot of water, you want to ensure you maximize each cleaning. If you choose a smaller softener, you might end up cleaning more often, therefore wasting salt, and water.

I'll explain this with an example. Let's say we're washing clothes. You need detergent to wash it. After washing, you rinse it with water. Salt works just like a detergent in a softener. It cleans the resin, and then it automatically gets rinsed off. This makes sure the water is not salty.

Softener needs salt, and water. Each backwash does not use more than 300-350 liters of water. For salt, see the following details:
1. Type I : 15kgs
2. Type II : 12kgs
3. Type III : 10kgs

If you backwash and maintain your softener, the resin inside can last for up to 10 years. After that, you simply replace the resin.

Generally, soft water is ok for gardening. But there are certain species like Orchids that don't do well with soft water. So for those reasons, we recommend that you do not use soft water for gardening. We make a bypass line before the softener that we use for gardening purposes.

We do not recommend you drink soft water if it has not been filtered with UV and RO System.

There are two types of auto-cleaning methods: Timer or Volume Used. Timer Based Heads clean on specific time every day or every few days. On the other hand, Volume based auto-cleaning is a better way of maximizing the use of softener. It means that the softener will only clean itself once it has exhausted the computed amount of water volume. Suppose you are on a vacation, your softener will not auto-clean because you're not using the water. This saves you salt, and water, therefore saving you money in the long run.

Whatever water problem you have, water hardness must always be solved in the end, and prior to membrane filtration.

Chlorine damages the resin in the long run. We recommend using a chlorine-removal filter. It costs P8,000 per set. You need to replace the filter cartridge every 6-12 months, depending on how chlorinated the water is.
